Hey everyone, just wanted to share another way to save some money! Spring is here, and if you're in your mid-thirties like me, chances are you're attending a wedding or two (or seven). I used to have one little black satin dress that I wore to literally everything, and I am BORED TO TEARS in it. There are only oh so many different necklace-and-handbag-combinations I can do, and it really doesn't make the dress THAT different in photos. I want variety, damn it.
But then I started buying formal wear, and crying into my bank statements, until I started RENTING my formal wear. How many times am I *actually* going to wear that sparkly pink shift dress that I paid $390 for? So far, I can count that one ONE finger.
But, if renting seems like throwing away money, Rent the Runway does clear out their clothing seasonally, and guess what? Buy out their winter dresses now from their clearance section! They're all in excellent, like-new condition, and heavily marked down, including handbags, coats, and accessories.
That turquoise dress, by the way? I own it now. It's ML Monique Lhuilier, retail $798, but I got it for $92, and I've had my eye on it FOREVER, waiting for it to join my closet. I have a fall wedding to attend, so I'm not just buying it to own it. I know it's a bit poofy, but I never went to prom (I wasn't asked by anyone and had no boyfriend... but I was a chubby awkward teenage nerd), so there's this part of me that is really into the idea of having my ridiculous prom-style princess dress. I don't care if it's a bit juvenile, ssssshhhhh... just let me be happy! :)
