Kate Spade is one of my favorite fun designers, and also one of the more affordable ones (as in, even at full retail, you're not going to go bankrupt buying one of her handbags. It's not like saving up for Birkin). The site also regularly has sales and coupon codes you can stack for an additional discount (Tip: Get on the mailing list! Some of the sales are exclusive to email subscribers, and you'll also be alerted anytime there's a sale).
I am in the market for the perfect black/neutral handbag, and well... THIS is what I bought instead. Whoops.
The problem I have is that I find black handbags boring. I know I need one. It's a Type 4 wardrobe staple, like dark-wash jeans and a stark white button-up. But if a black handbag is a style I like, and if it comes in ANY OTHER COLOR, I always end up buying the other color.
BUT, I did get these bags really cheap. I paid a little less than $89 a piece, original retail being $228. They were already marked down, and then I was able to take an additional percentage off, and I had no excuse to not own both of them. I'm just sad that the kelly green one ran out of stock, or I'd have that one too.
I know that none of us likes have spam clog up our inbox, but signing up for your favorite store's mailing list has its benefits (and often coupon codes and exclusive discounts). You generally get a discount for simply signing up, too. If it becomes excessive, just mark it as "junk" and have it filtered out. But if you know you regularly buy clothing from a certain brand/store, you'll probably benefit from signing up for their spam. Mmmm, salty.
