It's Thursday, and that means another post sharing a great, affordable find!
I generally have two settings with clothing: bottom-of-the-clearance-barrel-cheap, or I-can't-believe-I-paid-$1400-for-shoes. I oscillate between two extremes. I rarely have mid-range clothing (though when I do, it's almost always from Express).
I bought this skirt from Amazon, and it's from one of those borderline shady sellers probably from China (though it does have Prime shipping now, which it didn't when I purchased, so I waited 3 weeks for this; you only have to wait 2 days). This thing was probably made in a sweat shop by children. There are reasons why this is $15.99 so you have to be kind of okay with that but most of your clothing, including luxury brands, are manufactured in shady sweatshops in deplorable conditions, so yay fashion. Here's the link, you immoral person you. (Clearly I also have no morals. Not at this price point.)
***Edited: The price has increased to $39.90 unfortunately. But it's still a price I'd pay for it.
Another thing to note is that this item is inexpensive, and the fabric isn't exactly luxurious. It's synthetic and it feels a little cheap. Like the type of satiny fabric they make costumes with. So just make sure your expectations are in line here.
Third, although the skirt is lined (*technically*), the lining is really short (like a miniskirt) and the material feels like nylon. If you have some basic sewing skills, I highly recommend sewing in a new lining, which is what I did. I like for my linings to be full-length in the first place. And it helps to have an extra layer between me and the outer fabric since this is a light-colored skirt.
Basically, if you really love the print and vintage/midi-length on this skirt as much as I do, love it enough to be okay with it being kind of cheap and needing a new lining, and are also really thin (because apparently there are zero people larger than a size 6 in all of China *eyeroll*), then it's definitely worth the purchase. I mean, it's pretty cheap. $15.99 with free shipping? That's hard to beat, price-wise. And I'm being upfront with the drawbacks, so you won't be surprised. And there are also a lot of other patterns too, if this particular one isn't your thing (I've been eyeing the Van Gogh Starry Night one, myself).
Happy bargain hunting!
