Moving on to today's Thrifty Thursday theme... Let's talk about Tieks! I'm sure a lot of you are aware of this shoe brand that creates foldable, portable, travelable (which is a word I might have made up) ballet-style flats.
But what's NOT so great about these is the price tag. We're talking $175 - $345 per pair. That hurts my feelings.
So I went on a mission to find some more affordable options, and here's what I came up.
I'll start with some that I DON'T recommend, because they are really flimsy, and are basically the definition of "emergency shoes". These things, Sidekicks, here are practically disposable, as you'll likely only get a few good uses out of them. You'll actually see these being handed out to guests at wedding receptions since dancing in heels is hard. These things are about as durable as paper plates. Yes, take the pair that is offered for free at your friend's wedding... and accept that they might going right into the trash afterwards. There are a lot of mixed reviews, and maybe this is something that will work for you personally. I think my opinion is affected a lot by the fact that I live in an area where we have tons of rain, and these things get destroyed fast. BUT, if you do want something that is extremely cheap, maybe because it's YOU getting married and you now need 200 of these, then go for it! This is the type of product that I'd keep in the glove compartment of my car, along with things like a flashlight and bandaids. But some people may really only want or need single-use, so here they are. Note: These do make EXCELLENT house slippers though!
You can buy them as cheap as $5 HERE (multiple color options).
Between these two brands, the Isotoner is more comfortable, if that is something you prioritize. But I think the Fit in Clouds brand is cuter and I love all the metallics (gold, silver, bronze). As always, it seems that we have to pick one: style or comfort. Sigh. But hey, these are definitely less than $200, so that's a plus.
Buy the Isotoner (on the left) HERE for $23-26, and the Fit in Clouds (on the right) HERE for $32. Both brands have multiple color options.
Happy shopping, and I'll see you tomorrow!
