And this post went up a little bit later than normal due to some drama where no one knew where my opiate addict brother was, and my hearing a report that late Sunday night/early Monday morning, a car crashed into a concrete wall and burst into flames... right at the intersection by my brother's work. I had to legitimately be concerned that my brother's car was a burnt to a crisp and that he was in jail.
The him being in jail and missing his out-of-state court date was caused by something else entirely.
Needless to say, I am pretty sure I sprouted 3 new grey hairs over the past couple of days.
Here's what I'm wearing while I age a hundred years on the inside:
- Coat: Banana Republic coat I've had for 15 freaking years (Banana Republic's coats are indestructible, you guys)
- Top: the Norcross, from Elizabeth & Clarke (they have a line of unstainable shirts that are amazing, check out this video HERE, where I pour coffee on one of their unstainable white shirts.
- Jeans: Rag & Bone
- Shoes: peacock motif pumps from Modcloth
- Purse: Kate Spade
- Amazing Haircut: by Mandi Lusk Sturgeon, but you'll have to drive 4 hours north of Toronto to get to her salon, but I'm pretty sure it's worth it.
I'll see you tomorrow, and hopefully my life will be a little bit calmer moving forward.
I am making sure I prioritize some self-care in the meantime, in the small ways I can as I still have a very busy life, and today, it's just drinking echinacea tea and being grateful that my brother didn't crash into a wall and explode his car. It's kind of sad that when I heard about that through the local grapevine, I immediately thought, "Fuck, that's my brother I bet." When you know an addict who has a history of driving under the influence, it's easy to assume the worst. I guess this time it was someone else's addict. Which actually isn't better.
Anyway, see you tomorrow!
