Cool, I can handle purple.
I went to their site and read this little tid bit about the color, that I can DEFINITELY get behind:
"Enigmatic purples have also long been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance. Musical icons Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix brought shades of Ultra Violet to the forefront of western pop culture as personal expressions of individuality. Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets."
If Ultra Violet Purple is about non-conformity, then yes, it's perfect for 2018. I will not conform to a society that tells me I'm less than because of my ethnicity. Or that treats me like a perpetual foreigner. Or that judges me by my appearance, or paycheck, or educational level. I belong. And I make this place better by being here. It's sad that me loving myself is an act of non-conformity.
So here's to Ultra Violet! And to ME! If society doesn't like me, that's perfectly fine, because I LIKE ME! It shouldn't have to feel like defiance. And it's not just about me... It's about a metric of value and worth that also doesn't include most of us, including non-ethnic, non-immigrant women as well. Are you a size 0 blonde with perky tits who is 6 feet tall and looks 25? Because that basically leaves ALL of us on the outskirts. Look at the way we treat stay-at-home-parents, aging women, people who don't or can't attend college, or people who work in underpaid service jobs or education, or basically anyone who isn't pulling in a six-figure income. All the ways we are reduced to just stats, like that's all that matters. Society at large devalues so many parts of us. Don't conform to that nonsense. Flip 'em the bird, ladies! Or, you know, whatever less obscene version of that appeals to you! (I swear I'm really not a super angry person; I actually really do wish everyone could find a way to love themselves, and I know it's so hard when we're bombarded with messages that tell us why we aren't enough)
Anyway, less ranting, more oufit!

I also wanted to share my lipcolor! It is Lipsense in Bravo, with a matte gloss, and this stuff lasts forever! I am still a bigger fan of Younique's lipstains, but they don't really have a good nude lip. Lipsense has an AWFUL taste to it though. It tastes like chemicals and hairspray and disappointment, but if you really just want something to last for hours and hours, it works. But it's expensive, too. Rimmel Provocalips is also long-staying (not as long as Lipsense, but still has good staying power) and doesn't transfer, but it's like $5-6 instead of $25. I did a video review of Rimmel Provocalips, by the way, that you can see HERE.
See you tomorrow!
