Those are not white dinosaurs. They're freaking PINK. What the hell.
Come on, people. You would never put PINK dinosaurs on a MEN'S shirt. Why do we need to do this weird girlification of everything? Do you know how hard it is to find cool dino-stuff that is cut for a woman's body in the first place? And I've tried to just buy Mens XXS, but it's too wide in the shoulders, too long, not cut right at all. I was really excited to find a WOMAN'S SHIRT that had dinosaurs... and then they made them freakin' baby pink! It's like, "Fine, I guess we can offer a dinosaur shirt for women. But we need to make sure it still follows traditional gender roles somehow. Let's make 'em pink. So they are reminded they're GIRLS. Can't let those uppity-women folk ever forget that they're supposed to follow rigid outdated rules for femininity, and that even if their interests aren't genderized, we need to MAKE them genderized. SO THERE! Pink dinosaurs! Suck it, Tracy! Only overtly girly shit for YOU!" I mean, it only makes sense that this shirt was made for the express purpose of pissing me off, duh. (That was sarcasm, guys. And yeah, I have to say that, because you'd be surprised how many people can't tell).
I didn't want PINK dinosaurs. Not that these are super realistic dinosaurs or anything, but pink doesn't seem like the best color choice for a T-Rex. Not that white is super realistic either, but white feels less like trying to force something traditionally considered boyish, into some girl-version instead. White is considered neutral for everyone. And yeah, men wear pink now too, but they have no problem AVOIDING pink if they don't like the color. It is much harder for me to avoid it. This type of thing doesn't need a girl or boy version (except with the cut of the shirt perhaps, since women tend to have larger breasts, not that THAT applies to me either, though). Can we stop genderizing colors in the first place? There shouldn't even BE girl colors or boy colors.
I'm still going to wear it, because it's a cool shirt. But maybe next time list BOTH colors in the pattern, okay Modcloth? That way I'm not surprised when I have a bunch of pink T-Rexes on my shirt.
