Now, when buying things from the kid section, you have to be very very discriminating. Just because it's for a child doesn't mean the proportions are going to work for an adult.
When it comes to outerwear, I specifically choose BOYS coats/jackets. Not GIRLS. I've found that in general, buying big Girls' sizes (12, 14, 16), they tend to be the right length, but waaaaaaay too wide. I guess if a kid or tween is wearing a girl's 14, they are assumed to have something resembling curves. Unfortunately for me, I don't have any curves.
BUT... I have found that BOYS sizes tend to stay slimmer cut, and more straight up and down instead of built for budding curves.
And that's how I came to own a Burberry trenchcoat in a Boys size 12, and at a substantial discount off a women's XXXXXXS or whatever size I'd wear in their actually-for-adults sizes. If you're also a People McNugget, buy your designer items from the children's section. You'll save anywhere from 25-40%. (*note: I've had this coat for a couple of years now, this is not a new item. I'm still holding strong for #NoBuy365!)
Here's my short teensy self wore:
- Jacket: Burberry
- Top: Shiny leopard mock turtleneck from Michael Kors
- Bottom: 7 for all Mankind cigarette skinnies
- Shoes: Black ankle boots by Mootsies Tootsies (a freebie from 6pm)
- Purse: Kate Spade
- Makeup: None
- Hair: dear god it needs washing
I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday(s) or time off from work, or at least made some BANK from holiday pay if you didn't get time off work. I had a great Christmas with my kids, who are all enjoying the new laptops I bought for them (my poor, sad bank account took one for the team), and because I'm THAT person, I also ended up buying them a ton of other gifts too even though I swore I wouldn't it (forgive me, my lords Visa and American Express, for I have sinned), and even though someone went and frauded my bank account yet again, I had a great Christmas. And so did the person who stole my identity. Enjoy the $340 of Nikes you bought, courtesy of the FDIC (I got my money back, no worries).
Tomorrow I'll have a video up, pinky swear! I'm still recovering from surgery, but feel mostly okay now, with the exception of some gross side effects that I won't mention here.
See you later!
