For some reason, the women in the Dressing Your Truth community have a hard time reconciling "Type 4" with "Casual". Like we just wear pencil skirts and blazers all day, every day, to the grocery store, to bed, in the shower...
Okay, I *do* own a lot of pencil skirts. And blazers. And I've definitely gone to the grocery store and volunteered in the preschool in them... But I promise we Type 4s also wear casual clothing sometimes. I think I do a great job of finding casual T4 pieces. I love getting dressed up more than being casual, but sometimes, like when you've simultaneously given up coffee, alcohol, and gone on a detox... you just need to put on a pair of leggings and tell yourself that they totally count as pants. (Don't judge me; I am pretty sure this is how I'm going to die.)
These are black faux leather leggings I bought from Nordstrom's junior's department (the brand is Dex, and they were relatively affordable). I usually for for the real leather version of everything, but pants are my exception because leather has no stretch, and it just isn't practical. A rare sighting of Tracy in polyurethane. Gross, I know. But trust me, if you've ever actually put on a pair of tight black leather pants, you know it's just not worth it. I find that because the fabric is not very breathable, I get really sweaty in them no matter what. Things start getting *tropical*. (Things you totally wanted to know about me, I'm sure).
Clammy netherregions aside, my top is from the Dressing Your Truth Type 4 store (though I bought it a while ago and it's no longer available for sale). And yes, the yellow is neon and My opinion of the quality of items from the store is that they're equivalent to what you can expect from a boutique: a little lower quality but also a lower price point to make up for it, and brands that you are going to find at some of the more popular online boutiques like Zulily, Golden Tote, Jane.com, etc. But at least at the DYT T4 store, you don't have to worry if the colors are right; their team has already done the work for you.
My favorite part of the outfit of course would be these shoes. You'll see these a lot; they're my favorite flats. The star-studded Jimmy Choos. I actually ran a mile through downtown Seattle once in these shoes, because I had 10 minutes to get to the dock for my ferry to Victoria, B.C., Canada. They are THAT comfortable. Because I walk basically everywhere, I will definitely pay for shoes that I can get serious city mileage out of. (I also live a block up from the water, and I've even taken these to the sandy beach. I probably abuse these a bit more than I should).
I hope your Monday has been swift and merciful as an execution. See you tomorrow!
