For those familiar with the Dressing Your Truth fashion system, you can probably guess that I am a Type 4, and you get bonus points for guessing that I have a secondary 1 (which makes me a bit more youthful and cheeky).
Black leather is not something I gravitate toward (unless it's handbags or shoes), and it was really hard to find something that wasn't really tight and fitted (which feels a little too edgy and rock and roll for me. Edgy is NOT my aesthetic). And I usually don't like the obvious, over-the-top, trying-too-hard, overtly sexy look that a lot of black leather items tend to be.
No, I do not have a ballgag and a whip in my purse, thank you very much. (But don't go digging in my drawers ;) Just kidding... maybe...)
But I found this soft, lambskin leather skater style skirt (it's very twirly) by designer Hussein Chalayan (he won British Designer of the Year TWICE), and it's a new staple in my wardrobe. First off, it has pockets. Secondly, it's not a patent leather, so it's a bit more understated. Third, I can easily wear it casually. In the photos above, I simply wore it with a white t-shirt (Elizabeth & Clarke) and a couple of simple bracelets. There are also knee-high socks involved and fuzzy slippers because it's really really cold out here in Seattle. And did I mention it has pockets? Yaaaaassssss....
