Excuse the mess on the bed (I was only partially unpacked when I took this photo, in London). I don't like cowl necks because they are just floppy and messy to me, but I bought this sweater in Oslo because 1). it's wool, and 2). my husband thinks I look really really good in yellow.
Another problem with cowls? Necklaces. The only type of necklace that works for this is a really long one, like the one I'm wearing (from the Dressing Your Truth Type 4 store).
Then I decided my small silver cuff (the one that holds a hair tie) and my white-framed glasses were enough to count as accessories, and was just done with it.
I simply wore my Genetic Denim jeans, and the black leather boots by Hush Puppies that I brought with me to gallivant through Europe in.
The sweater is United Colors of Benetton (ha, now there's a brand you don't really see anymore, though they are alive and well and strangely popular in Norway).
When I dress down, I tend to be very plain. I am more likely to just wear solids and not do anything terribly risky or fashion forward, I've noticed. And my go-to "lazy" hairstyle is a sloppy side-braid. I have a hard time caring about hair. Or casual wear.
But I do think that my husband is right about yellow being my color.
It really does work for me. And I am huge fan of my white glasses. Not everyone agrees that they look good on me, but that one guy who does (Austin, cough cough) dresses in old fraternity t-shirts and ill-fitting dad jeans, so his opinion is about as reliable as a 1991 Ford Taurus. Haters gonna' hate, potatoes gonna' potate.
