Let's just get right to it! Here's my first item:
Whatever you call it, it is cozy as fffuuuuu...
The next item in my Material World box is this skirt by Alexander Wang.
Not going to lie, I felt freaking fat in it.
This skirt fit me everywhere but the waist. I do not have the kind of waist that nips in nicely. I am thick-waisted (it's less obvious because I'm so thin overall, but I am built straight up and down, like a brick. My body shape is "rectangle"). This was NOT comfortable to squeeze into. I wish I were one of those women with a nipped-in waist, but nope. Not in the cards for me genetically. I did NOT want to pull out a girdle for this skirt. I could probably wear it better with some spanx. I am trying to figure out WHO on earth can fit into that waist though, especially since there is no stretch at all. I wear a waist size 24, soooo...
For the aforementioned reasons above (having zero defined waist), I tend to avoid high-waisted jeans. These pants did me no favors except make me look like I have the looooongest pubic mound in the world. Definite PASS.
But at least these had some stretch to accommodate my non-existent waist.
It was okay. But it was just okay. God I'm picky.
I almost bought these. ALMOST. The reason I didn't is because they are completely flat. As in, Converse flat. Zero arch support. I actually find shoes like that to be more uncomfortable than 3-inch heels. So I decided I'm just getting a little too old to be dealing with uncomfortable shoes (and there isn't enough space in the shoe for me to throw an orthotic insert into it, because yes, I'm old enough to have those).
Now, for the moment of truth: the prices.
This box contained pricier items than my previous two. If you buy all 5 items, you do get a 20% discount though.
Overall, I think I like Material World enough to keep on receiving regular shipments. They do always send me SOMETHING I like or would wear in their boxes, and I can't say that about Stitch Fix, though I like Stitch Fix for other reasons.
Personally, I think purchasing items from the Real Real is going to be the best deal on consigned luxury clothing, but if you want someone else to pick out things for you, Material World is a lot of fun.
See you tomorrow!
