I decided to cancel Sephora Play, and I'm still in the process of figuring out the best subscription service for cosmetics for myself, and Boxycharm comes up a lot, so I went and subscribed last week and my July Box just arrived (as a late subscriber, my box obviously wasn't being shipped out right away, but I should be receiving my August box at their normal time). Unlike Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox, these are 4-5 FULL-SIZE products, never samples. It does cost a little more, at $21 per month, but considering that as long as you like ONE item in your box, you come out ahead financially, it's not that bad.
What really got me to bite the bullet and subscribe was the free FULL SIZE GlamGlow mask I received as a new member!
I luuuuurve GlamGlow but I do not lurve their price tag. Their Bubblesheet oxygneated sheetmask is one of my favorite sheetmasks of all time (review video HERE), but at $9 each... ouch. My bank account is feeling battered and bruised.
Of course, like basically ALL skincare items, there is an equal or better K-Beauty counterpart, and I decided to see how the Korean brand Purederm's Bubble Mask compared to GlamGlow.
The first obvious difference is the PRICE.
GlamGlow Bubblesheet is $9 for ONE.
Purederm Bubble Mask is $6.99 for a package of TEN, and free shipping on Amazon HERE.
....and that's where the differences stop.
Seriously. If I didn't see the outside packaging, I would not know I wasn't using GlamGlow's Bubblesheet mask. These are virtually identical products, and I am done shelling out for GlamGlow. The oxygenation and foaming effect, the results to my skin afterwards... this product DELIVERS! And for only $0.70 per mask!
I am soooooo happy that Amazon carries so many Korean skincare products now and I don't have to go trek 90 minutes out to the Korean part of Tacoma (where I used to live), just to get the good stuff.
There was no way I was keeping this to myself, grab yours HERE, and you're welcome.
***Note: This post contains referral links. They are my adorable tween daughter's Ipsy referral links, not mine. Lord knows I don't need more cosmetics.***
I have decided to keep my Ipsy Glam Bag Plus subscription. Honestly, they seem to do a much better job with choosing products and brands I would actually use, and the box arrives soooooo much earlier than the regular Ipsy Glam Bag (the Ipsy Glam Bag Normal is what I've dubbed it). My Ipsy Glam Bag Normal hasn't even started tracking yet. I'm not getting that thing until my kids start school. Gaaaaaaah.
But the Glam Bag Plus is FIRE and definitely worth way more than the $25 I pay (weeeelllllll, I also purchase add-ons, but you can see which products were added, and which came in my box as part of the normal $25 fee):
There is actually an additional item that arrived with it that I forgot about too, pictured below.
Surprise! A bonus video on this dreary, rainy Seattle Tuesday!
My FabFitFun box arrived, and I'm here to share its contents with you! I apologize ahead of time for even bringing diarrhea into the conversation. On an unrelated note, did you know I do all my videos in one take and refuse to edit them? Sometimes an F-bomb slips past. I'm just gangster like that.
This is my all-time favorite lifestyle/beauty box subscription. I unfortunately already sent out my max limit of Free Starter Boxes (which are like mini-FabFitFun teaser boxes, with 4-5 products), but I will give my blog readers first dibs for the Fall Box when those are available for me to send out. They are free, but you have to cover the shipping and handling, and they are popular and go faaaaaast. I had random Facebook friends begging for mine. I didn't realize people wanted them so badly, or I would have been more vigorous about sending them out this entire time! I've been letting mine go to waste!
Anyway, use a referral code if you know you want a full-size box, so you can knock $10 off the price. If you don't have a friend's, use mine HERE.
For discounts on all sorts of brands and products, I keep my codes on the side-bar underneath my little author blurb and social media shortcuts. Just scroll down.
See you tomorrow!
My second Ipsy Glam Bag Plus box has arrived! And this time, I actually received all of my items! This month featured a lot of items from the Tetris x Ipsy collection. Yes, Tetris as in the puzzle game, which made my geeky 80s heart happy, but then I realize it was really quite a stretch to try to link an 8-bit puzzle game from my childhood, to beauty products. Something about celebrating our different shapes and colors and unique beauty, blah blah blah. Quite a leap there, but I'm not complaining. I love puzzle games almost as much as I love RPGs. Let's combine TWO of my unrelated hobbies for no reason, woo-hoo!
If you're wondering what the major difference is between the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus and the Ipsy Glam Bag normal, they both come with 5 products (with the optoin to add additional items for a fee), but the Plus costs $25 instead of $10, and the Plus contains ONLY FULL-SIZE items, where as the normal bag contains mostly deluxe sample size products, with the occasional full-size product.
Here is everything in my box and the items I decided to purchase as "add-ons". The Sunday Riley moisturizer by itself already made the box more than worth the $25.
For price point references, the full-size product add-ons (the additional Tetris x Ipsy eyeshadow palette and the Smashbox palette) are $12 each. Those Smashbox palettes are $29 at Sephora, so that's more than 50% off. The deluxe sample size products, like the Tetris x Ipsy mini lip balm, are only $3. So I am ALL ABOUT the add-ons. (You can only add 3 items max though).
I haven't quite made up my mind yet about the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus, as I like to give a subscription service 3 shipments to impress me, but so far, it seems like a pretty good deal! What do you think?
It's that time again! My Spring FabFitFun box has finally arrived! Check out what items I chose!
Hi everyone! On Fridays, I post a video, and that usually means the post goes up in the late afternoon (usually by 5 pm Pacific Time at the latest) because I do all the shooting and uploading same day because I like to keep things pretty real and authentic. I don't have 27 pre-recorded videos and hundreds of pre-scheduled posts. I live life and blog my life in real time. So that means that the video, due to taking a crazy amount of time to upload, goes up slightly later than the average blog post!
Today's video is me testing out this sheet mask from GlamGlow that bubbles up ON YOUR FACE. Here's my demo and what I think of it.
Getting this FabFitFun box was a complete nightmare, guys.
I was already demoted to the second round of shipments, but STILL had to contact customer service not once, but TWICE before they finally bothered to even print off a shipping label. So I started off already super freaking pissed by the time I even got to check out the items.
Was it worth it?
Yes, in spite of how long it took. Basically, I *might* get another box from them instead of cancelling the whole thing, because they do seem apologetic (and my love can definitely be bought with free stuff, which they are offering a lot of for the next box), but I'm still peeved by this whole experience. Not a great first impression of their customer service. Plus, my tote bag smells like burning tires. That's the smell I finally decided on. Imagine a dump yard was set on fire. And that's how my Vince Camuto bag smells. But it's a really great bag. It's almost worth the smell. How do I get rid of that smell? Incense? Oils? An exorcism?
Anyway, if you want to try this service ($49.99 for a box, and there is one box every 3 months, or $179.99 for a whole year), I do think it's fun to receive a box full full of high quality goodies (and you do get to customize some of the contents), but not at all full price. You can use mine or anyone else's referral link for a $10 discount off the price (HERE), or I can send out some FREE starter boxes (you only pay shipping) to anyone who fills out my Contact Me form above my banner... but know that the value of the box is exaggerated. They claimed the box above is $350+ retail. LOL, according to WHO? What do they think the retail price is on things like bath salts and a French press? I will say that for the price of $39.99 (which is how much it'll cost with a referral code), it was a good deal, as long as you're fine with only picking out SOME of the items. For some people, that loss of control is a deal breaker, but if you're okay with a small element of surprise, this really wasn't that bad. Once I get the smell out of my tote bag that is. (Seriously, I like that tote enough to deal with figuring out how to remove the smells from it, even though I know brown is not one of my T4 colors. I'm rebellious like that though).
Have an amazing weekend everyone! I'll see you on Monday!
The short review: It works super great but smells like buttholes.
Product Review: Tony Moly Painting Therapy Pack Sebum Control Black Color Clay Mask (That is Way Too Long of a Name, Tony)
Clutch your pearls, ladies, and get your smelling salts ready: PROFANITY AHEAD *gasp*
This is literally the worst face mask I have ever tried.
I received two face masks from Pond's for free in exchange for reviews through Influenster (sign up if you too would like to receive packages full of disappointment), and these masks are soooooooo bad that I don't even want them for free. In fact, I feel ripped off.
You know I love to keep it real over here, so I'm posting a video of myself with ZERO make up, and talking about skincare today. REAL skincare, on a real person, which is me, an almost-35-year-old mother of 4, not unlike many of you,
People often ask me what I am doing to keep my skin looking young, fresh, and dewy.
Granted, I have a skin type that is oilier, so it's not that hard to look "glowy" in a way (yay, sebum!), but the things I do for my skin are not going to be achieved by using expensive foundation or COVERING UP YOUR SKIN with cosmetics of any kind. You have to take care of your skin, you can't shortcut around that, if you want it to look and BE healthy. Like all things, what healthy looks like for YOUR skin may not look the same for MY skin, or anyone else's. It's kind of like physical bodily health... Fitness is an outfit that looks different on different bodies, and your health in general is like that too, which includes your skin. So don't waste too much time comparing the specific type of healthy that YOU have, to what someone else has.
Here's the video, and I hope you enjoy your weekend! Some of the more obscure products can be found on Shop My Favorites, and I love that Amazon carries so many of these now. No more driving all the way out to Lakewood (Tacoma), WA to get my products! (or even worse, importing them, gaaaaaah)
