The way I dress during winter when I know I have no place to be is very different than the days I know I'll be out walking errands on foot. You might recognize this photo from yesterday's slideshow (I accidentally put it in there, whoops), and it's really really... basic. This outfit says "I'm just trying to not die of hypothermia today." Outdoor-Tracy knows she doesn't have enough body fat to survive the winter, so this outfit is practical in every sense of the word, and the only interesting thing about it, besides the awesome color of the jacket, are some cute fun details in the accessories.
Everything closed and we all died horrible, icy deaths this Christmas... or so it would seem based on the panic and hyperbole of everyone in my neighborhood. THE END HAD COME. There would be no survivors.
We're talking literally less than 3 inches of snow, and yet there were cars in ditches, people angry that roads weren't being plowed and salted, and complaints about how there was just SOOOOOOOO MUCH SNOW ALL OF A SUDDEN (nevermind that we were all warned well in advance to expect a white Christmas).
A guy in my town literally drove his car off the road and into a god damn tree. I'd post a photo (because everyone took photos of it, how could we NOT?) but the guy is already facing enough humiliation as it is, since we're a tight-knit community and like to internet-shame our local shitty drivers. Every other post is someone passive-aggressively criticizing someone's driving, with make, model, and driver description. *eyeroll*
Hey everyone! I'm back from celebrating the holidays with my family. I'll post some photos tomorrow! In the meantime, enjoy this awesome throwback photo. Christmas is cheesy and I embrace it fully.
Today, I want to talk about New Year's Resolutions. Do you participate in this tradition? Do you write out a huge ambitious list or just a few key items? Do you find you generally reach your goals, or do you write down the same things year after year, knowing you probably won't succeed?
I tend to be the ambitious list-maker. And I can't recall a single goal I did not check off the list.
But it's exhausting. I don't like to fail at anything, and I take my New Year's resolutions very very seriously. I mean, I've accomplished a lot, to the point where I don't even know what goals I have LEFT to write. I know that sounds a lot like I'm bragging, but I'm just trying to emphasize how I cram so much "improvement" into the year that I don't even have things left to improve and I just get really, really TIRED. To the point where I'm not sure I'm actually a better PERSON. I just improved those specific things on the list, or reached those specific goals, but at what personal cost?
I don't participate in every weekly fashion challenge, but decided to do this one because, well, it was relatively easy to put together a holiday outfit. Because this is me, I chose nontraditional style elements, but kept it still very Christmasy.
First off, as you can see, I'm not really feeling the make-up today. I think it's fine. The most exciting thing I did was go to the grocery store and then join a Pokemon raid group to catch a legendary raid boss, while the ice cream melted in the trunk (what can I say? I live on the edge).
I am wearing fur-lined fair isle leggings from Zulily, a neon coral top from the DYT store, black booties by Moostsies Tootsies, a necklace from some random subscription box, and the jacket is Nanette Lepore.
Leather and neon are as traditional as eggnog and drunk racist grandparents, right?
Merry Christmas, everyone! I will check back in on Wednesday, as I'll be celebrating with my family and kitchen-slaving. Cheers to you, and I hope your holidays are tolerable in spite of all the peopling you have to do!
Hey everyone! Today I am posting an obligatory video about hair oil. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT SPONSORED AT ALL! /sarcasm
I received a complimentary full-size bottle of L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil for testing and review purposes from Influenster. I decided to compare it to Nexxus Oil Infinite Nourishing Hair Oil (which I also initially received for free from Influenster about a year and a half ago, but I do now pay for it myself after the first full-size bottle ran out). Part of receiving these items for free is the agreement that you will in fact share on social media and review the product(s). I'm always up front about what items I've received for free specifically to review, and which I've purchased out of my own pocket. The video is about 5 minutes long.
Hey everyone! I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was getting my haircut. For some women, this is a fairly regular, benign experience. For me, it is an anxiety-ridden, scissors-laden, free-fall into the unknown.
I went to my usual stylist, and even though my hair looks great, it's actually not a very good cut. It only looks good because the stylist...well, STYLED IT. This is a haircut that looks like absolute garbage if I don't blow it out with a giant round brush and use a bunch of products. I am disappointed. I don't know how to style it the way she did, and I don't really want to learn because blow-drying is so damaging to my already-dry hair. If a haircut doesn't also look good or even just passable after washing and drying, it's NOT A GOOD CUT. A good cut isn't DEPENDENT on styling to look okay.
I have valiantly returned from my minor-turned-major crisis. Multiple crises, all compounded on each other. Some were pretty big, and some were minor. My youngest daughter brought home lice, and that was the least of our problems, just to put it into perspective. Gaaaaah, lice is disgusting, and thankfully people talked me out of doing things like shaving everyone's heads and burning the whole house down. Also, the fact that there are professional lice removal services is the best thing that ever happened to me. It was not the best thing that ever happened to my bank account. If you want to know how much something like that costs for 3 girls, it was nearly $700. But to me, it was very much worth it. I don't care if I have to give blowjobs behind the local tavern to get the money, I will ALWAYS pay for it. They are fast, they are thorough, they have access to all sorts of things you can't get at the drug store (and lice are resistant to basically all of the chemical treatements on the market right now) and best of all, they guarantee their work. So if my daughters get it again within a certain time frame, they will re-treat and remove everything all over again. No house-fires necessary.
So, considering that was the least shitty thing that happened recently, you can probably imagine how awful my life has been. I *think* the worst of everything is behind me. Sorry to be so vague, I just don't have the liberty to discuss things that involve other people on my blog without their permission. Time to get back to business!

Sending lots of love to my readers! I may need to take a few days off to handle the family emergency, but wanted to make sure I took care of the giveaway first. There's a good chance this will be the only post up this week, and I apologize for neglecting the blog while I deal with unexpected life circumstances. I'm going to be okay though.
But hey, if you're interested in reviewing products with me (products that are sent for free/no cost to you), get in touch with me (Contact Me). Sometimes I am sent items for free in exchange for a review, sometimes I buy them myself just because I want to know what all the hype is about. I'd love to have some guest reviewers on here to have some more diverse, rounded out opinions.
See you soon, ladies and gents!
